Craftsman Home and Furniture from Scratch
Workshop Tour
A couple of things to keep in mind as you tour through my shop is that this represents 30+ years of accumulating and upgrading my tools and that I am a bit of a tool nut. I tend to be an early adopter of new tools and technologies and have acquired a number of tools that do the same thing but in a different way. All of this is to say that you don’t have to have a shop like mine to produce the furniture and rooms you see here on the site. Also, my shop is a machine-based shop, not a hand tool shop. I use a few hand tools in finishing work but mostly rely on machines. For some woodworkers, doing joinery and other aspects of building furniture using hand tools is important part of the craft. However, for me using machines allows me to focus on other aspects of building fine furniture and completing projects in a timely fashion.

As I take you through the shop, I will point out less expensive ways to do certain functions and how to acquire less expensive tools. Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions or give me your thoughts on tools. mike@mikebarberwoodworking.com.
