Back in the shop

It is hard to believe, but it has been 20 months since I have posted anything on the website. First of all, I want to say that I have remained in good health, good spirits and have been very busy with travel and other projects over this time. The cherry bed that my granddaughters Rachel and Miriam are laying on is my latest woodworking project that took over 15 months to complete. It is a gift to our son Rob and his wife Laurie that I had promised several years ago. Why have I been so tardy in delivering this promised gift? Well, I have been busy. Since my last post, we traveled to Spain and Portugal for 5 weeks, visited with my brother Dick and his wife Sue in Gulf Shores for a week, then we took a two week trip to France to take a river boat cruise to Normandy, a month later after squeezing three days in Indianaplois for my 50 year medical school reunion, we spent 2 weeks going to Niagra Falls, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City in Canada. However, that is not the whole story. Last fall, we found out that our daughter in law Laurie had accepted a professor position at Denison University in Granville OH starting in August 2024. While this meant that they would be moving much closer to us (about 2 hours driving), it also meant that we were going to have to leave the friends we had made in Oshkosh and sell the 2 bedroom condo that we had just finished renovating. The condo sold very quickly in February and we moved out on May 1, 2024. Even though Rob, Laurie and the grandkids were going to be much closer, we decided to buy a condo in Gahanna to spend time close to them. We chose Gahanna because Rob got a job at St. Matthews church and the comute to Denison is only about 30 minuets. Guess what, the condo was built in 1998 and had never been updated so we are in the process of renovating it top to bottom. Just to add more to do's to my list, our son Nick and his wife Samantha decided to renovate their kitchen so I volunteered to help of course. We have no more international travel planned for the rest of the year and I hope to have the condo renovation completed by Thanksgiving.

I have a lot of photos and projects to post and will try to be more timely and getting them done.
