Craftsman Home and Furniture from Scratch
"When we come to make things ourselves and because they are needed, instead of depending upon the department store to furnish them, we shall not only find more pleasure in making them, but we shall also take more pleasure in possessing them.”
Gustav Stickley
My Story
As a hobbyist woodworker, I have found the Gustave Stickley quote to be true-living with furniture and rooms I have built brings me great pleasure. Not only that, the building process itself is enjoyable and brings a sense of purpose to my life. I hope that sharing my experiences will inspire and enlighten others to do the same.
My Mission
With the encouragement of family and friends, I decided to share my woodworking journey on building our Arts and Crafts house and furniture to help others building, decorating and restoring their home in the Arts and Crafts style. While I have taken woodworking classes, read magazines and books and watched YouTube videos, much of what I have learned has been through working through the challenges of a project and making mistakes along the way. By sharing my mistakes and the solutions to those mistakes, I hope to help others benefit from what I have learned.
